How Manchester City could line up against Crystal Palace

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City could line up in Saturday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

Manchester City's pursuit of runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool will continue on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Crystal Palace to the Etihad Stadium.

Last weekend's 6-1 win over Aston Villa saw the reigning champions reclaim second spot in the table from Leicester City, although Pep Guardiola's side are still 14 points off Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

The Citizens will be looking for their sixth straight victory in all competitions on Saturday, although Palace recorded a 3-2 win in the corresponding match during the 2018-19 campaign.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the hosts could line up against Roy Hodgson's side.

Out: Aymeric Laporte (knee), Leroy Sane (knee)

City will again be without the services of Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane due to knee injuries, although both players are making positive progress in their recoveries.

Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker were unused substitutes against Villa last weekend but should return to the XI, while Bernardo Silva will also be hoping for a recall.

Riyad Mahrez is likely to keep his spot in the final third alongside Sergio Aguero, though, with the Algeria international scoring two goals and registering three assists in his last three Premier League outings.

John Stones should also keep his spot at the heart of the defence ahead of Nicolas Otamendi, while David Silva could again feature in midfield at the expense of Ilkay Gundogan.

The fact that City have had a week to prepare for this match means that there are not expected to be too many alterations, suggesting that Phil Foden is likely to have to accept a spot on the bench once again.
