Manchester City's 100% start to the new Premier League season has come to an end with a 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
A Ruben Dias own goal sent the home side ahead in the 13th minute before Julian Alvarez levelled the scores with an excellent free kick just before the 60-minute mark.
Wolves were back ahead in the 66th minute through Hwang Hee-chan, though, and the hosts repelled some late pressure to pick up a huge three points.
The result has left the hosts in 13th spot in the table, boasting seven points from seven matches, while Man City are still at the head of the division despite the loss, one point ahead of second-placed Arsenal.
Wolves made the breakthrough in the 13th minute of the match when a cross from Pedro Neto was turned into the back of his own net by Man City defender Dias.
The visitors, as expected, dominated the ball as the first period progressed, but they were finding it difficult to create clear openings at Molineux.
At the interval, Man City's possession was at 69%, with 13 shots, but only two of those were on target, and Wolves defender Craig Dawson was relishing his physical battle with Erling Haaland.
The away side's first opening of the second period fell to Alvarez, but the Argentina international could only fire his effort into the body of the waiting Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.
Alvarez was not to be denied, though, with the forward levelling the scores in the 58th minute courtesy of an excellent free kick, which found its way into the top corner.
Phil Foden then had one cleared off the line by Dawson as Man City went in search of their second of the match at Molineux.
Wolves managed to regain the lead in the 66th minute, though, with Hwang turning the ball into the back of the net from close range after lacklustre defending from the champions.
Man City continued to pass and probe as the match headed for the end of normal time, but Wolves defended excellently, with Dawson terrific in the middle, and it ultimately proved to be a comfortable conclusion for the home side, who picked up just their second league win of the season. body check tags ::
