How Manchester United could line up against Atalanta BC

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Atalanta BC.

Manchester United will be without the services of Victor Lindelof for Tuesday's Champions League contest against Atalanta BC.

The Red Devils will enter the match off the back of a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, where Solskjaer switched to a 3-5-2 formation in the hope of bouncing back from the heavy loss to Liverpool.

There is every chance that the 20-time English champions could again line up in the same formation for this match, and the club's head coach is expected to resist the temptation to shuffle his pack ahead of Saturday's Manchester derby with Manchester City in the Premier League.

Paul Pogba missed out against Spurs on Saturday through suspension but is available for this contest, with the France international potentially starting on the bench.

Nemanja Matic, like Pogba, is an option for change in midfield, but Solskjaer could decide to keep with largely the same side that took to the field at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That said, the Norwegian will want to protect Edinson Cavani's fitness ahead of the clash with Man City, so Marcus Rashford could join Cristiano Ronaldo in a front two here.

Meanwhile, Lindelof is absent due to a knock that he picked up in training, so Luke Shaw could start in a back three, with Alex Telles featuring as the left-side wing-back.

Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho were both left on the bench against Spurs on Saturday, and it would not be a surprise to see both players among the substitutes against Atalanta.

Amad Diallo played for the Under-23s on Saturday after recovering from injury and is now back in the squad.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Maguire, Varane, Shaw; Wan-Bissaka, Fernandes, McTominay, Fred, Telles; Ronaldo, Rashford body check tags ::
