Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's clash with Manchester City in the EFL Cup semi-final.

Manchester United have an excellent opportunity to move closer to their first trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a first-leg clash against Manchester City in the EFL Cup semi-final on Tuesday.

However, the Red Devils will need to considerably improve on a recent 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers if they are to get the upper hand in this tie.

City, the current holders of the EFL Cup, will want to exact revenge on their neighbours following last month's 2-1 defeat to United at the Etihad.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of this fixture.

Paul Pogba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

Solskjaer recently confirmed that Pogba, plagued by an ankle problem since late August, would return in about six weeks after undergoing surgery.

Axel Tuanzebe

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Having recovered from a hip problem sustained in October, the promising young defender is now sidelined with a thigh issue that looks set to keep him out until the end of the month.

Scott McTominay

Status: Out

Possible return date: Unknown

McTominay picked up a knee injury against Newcastle United last month, with Solskjaer confirming after the game that the midfielder would be out of action for "a few months".

Harry Maguire

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: January 7 (vs. Manchester City)

Maguire picked up a knock against Wolves last weekend and was seen limping through the mixed zone after the game. Solskjaer did not sound positive about his chances of recovering in time for Tuesday.

Luke Shaw

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 7 (vs. Manchester City)

The full-back missed the weekend's FA Cup game with a bug of some sort, which has affected other members of the dressing room, but he should be fine for the meeting with Pep Guardiola's side.

Anthony Martial

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 7 (vs. Manchester City)

Having scored against City last month, United supporters will desperately hope to see Martial return from illness in time for this game.

Jesse Lingard

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 7 (vs. Manchester City)

Another player sidelined through illness, Lingard will hope to return to action for this huge game. The Englishman enjoyed a decent first period when the two sides met last month.

Marcos Rojo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: Unknown

Rojo has been sidelined since the start of November, with no indication available on when the Argentine may return to action.

Eric Bailly

Status: Out

The Ivorian continues to recover from a knee injury picked up over pre-season and is targeting a return to the pitch by the end of the month.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 29 (vs. Manchester City)

Another player who has been out with knee ligament problems for a while, Fosu-Mensah has resumed light training and could also return before February.
