Manchester United will reportedly be without the services of Scott McTominay for Thursday's Europa League quarter-final first leg with Sevilla at Old Trafford.

Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag made no reference to an injury for the Scotland international during his press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the midfielder was unable to train with his teammates ahead of the Europa League affair due to an injury.

The report claims that the issue has ruled McTominay out of the contest with Sevilla, but it is not expected to keep him out for a long period, and he could potentially be back against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The 26-year-old was expected to keep hold of his starting role against Sevilla following his impressive performance against Everton in the league on Saturday, which included a goal.

McTominay has now represented the Red Devils on 35 occasions during the 2022-23 campaign, contributing three goals and one assist in the process.

The Scot's reported absence is a blow for a Man United side that will also be without Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw due to recent injuries.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho, Donny van de Beek and Tom Heaton remain on the sidelines for the 20-time English champions, who will be bidding to secure a first-leg advantage on Thursday night.

Man United will be boosted by the return of Casemiro, though, with the Brazil international recently missing out due to a four-game domestic suspension.

Christian Eriksen, meanwhile, made his return from a long-term ankle injury as a second-half substitute against Everton, further increasing Ten Hag's options in the middle of the park.

Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro are expected to start in midfield, with Fred, Marcel Sabitzer and Eriksen competing for the other role in a 4-3-3 formation.

Ten Hag has also all but confirmed that Anthony Martial will start through the middle in the absence of Rashford, who is out for 'a few games' with the issue that he picked up on Saturday.

Man United have another six matches before the end of the month, facing Sevilla twice, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in the Premier League, and Brighton & Hove Albion in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. body check tags ::
