Erik ten Hag reportedly has the support of several key figures at Manchester United amid uncertainty over whether he will remain at Old Trafford next season.

On Saturday, the Dutch manager secured his second trophy in consecutive seasons by leading the Red Devils to victory over their local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

However, the United boss remains under pressure, having only managed to secure eighth place in the Premier League this season, with widespread reports suggesting that the club had already decided to show him the door regardless of the Wembley triumph.

Among the candidates that have been linked with a potential move to Old Trafford are Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, Kieran McKenna and England manager Gareth Southgate.

Man United board to decide Ten Hag future this week

As reported by The Independent, Manchester United's leadership are set to undergo an in-depth post-season review this week before making any announcements regarding Ten Hag's future.

However, the report adds that Ten Hag still has prominent figures in the club's new hierarchy backing him, recognising that dismissing the Dutchman could spark backlash among the fanbase, especially after the weekend's victory over Man City.

Despite this, one highly influential figure is reportedly "adamant" that a new manager should be brought in, fueled by questions raised about some of the 54-year-old's recent signings.

It is understood that while the structure is not necessarily divided on either Ten Hag's fate or his potential successor, the focus lies on the leadership team exploring every option to make the most informed decision possible.

United to consider all options before making Ten Hag decision

An argument that has already surfaced is that this season essentially mirrors Mikel Arteta's first full campaign at Arsenal, where they also finished eighth amidst numerous changes.

In addition, sympathy has been extended to Ten Hag regarding injuries and a string of other distractions, including the challenges he has encountered with players like Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood.

After the FA triumph, United's new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe declined to engage in discussions regarding the future of the Dutchman at the club.

When asked about Ten Hag's potential continuation with the Red Devils next season, the British billionaire ignored the reporter's question and proceeded to leave the Wembley media zone. body check tags ::
