Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Monaco defender Axel Disasi.
The Red Devils are expected to bolster their backline this summer, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Harry Maguire.
The England international has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, and Erik ten Hag has preferred to use Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw at centre-back.
Despite having a contract until 25, Maguire could leave Man United this summer as he looks to gain regular playing time, with Tottenham Hotspur believed to be showing an interest.
With Maguire heading towards the exit door, Man United have seemingly identified a potential replacement for the England international.
According to L'Equipe, the Red Devils are close to finalising a deal to sign Disasi from Ligue 1 club Monaco.
Monaco are looking to receive a fee in between €40m (£34.4m) and €50m (£43m) for a player that is under contract until the summer of 2025.
The report claims that the two clubs are yet to begin formal talks, but the asking price is not believed to be an issue for the 20-time English champions.
Monaco have been preparing for Disasi's departure for a number of months, and he may not be the only player to leave the Principality this summer.
The Ligue 1 club could also sell Youssouf Fofana, as they look to balance out their budget after finishing in sixth place and missing out on European football.
The France international featured regularly for Monaco in the 2022-23 campaign, starting 37 of the club's 38 league matches.
During his three-year spell with the club, Disasi has made 129 competitive appearances, chipping in with 12 goals and four assists.
Disasi has been included in Didier Deschamps's France squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Greece. body check tags ::
