Manchester United have reportedly not given up on signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
Despite having been heavily linked with the Portugal international throughout the summer window, United have yet to get close to securing the signature of the 24-year-old.
However, with Tottenham Hotspur - another interested club - having seemingly turned their attention elsewhere, the door appears open for United to push through a deal.
According to O Jogo, the North-West giants could up their efforts to sign the playmaker in the coming hours as they desperately look to add at least one fresh face before Thursday's 5pm deadline.
However, the report adds that Sporting are not convinced that a transfer can be finalised, with the sides having previously been apart in their valuation of the player.
There is also a suggestion that Fernandes could pen a new Sporting contract if he does not join a new club.
