Saturday's early kickoff in the Championship saw two sides in contrasting form meet at The Den.
Visitors Cardiff City had won both of their opening games under new manager Russell Slade while Millwall were without a win in eight games since August.
It went against the form books as the Lions edged out the Bluebirds 1-0. Read how it all unfolded below.
Morning all! The first game of the day in the Football League takes place in South-East London as Millwall welcome Cardiff to The Den. Let's get straight to the team news...
MILLWALL XI: Forde; Wilkinson, Shittu, Beevers, Briggs; Upson, Williams; Martin, McDonald, Gregory; Fuller
Subs: King, Webster, Abdou, Chaplow, Woolford, Onyedinma, O'Brien

That's five changes for Millwall from Tuesday's draw at Wigan Athletic. One of those coming in is Dan Shittu, who makes his first start of the season in central defence for the suspended Alan Dunne:
The other changes made by Ian Holloway to his Lions team are Mark Beevers, Matthew Briggs, Shaun Williams and Ed Upson in, Byron Webster, Scott Malone, Richard Chaplow and Martyn Woolford out.
Russell Slade has no reason to mix up his starting lineup so goes with the same XI that came from a goal down to beat Ipswich Town 3-1 on Tuesday night.
There is a return to the bench for Ravel Morrison, though, and his presence will no doubt excite Cardiff supporters. He certainly isn't the complete package and needs to iron out some attitude issues, but boy is he a talented player.
As mentioned above, Cardiff should start this game as favourites. They have won two games in a row since Slade took over and they were both against teams right near the top of the table. First, they ended Nottingham Forest's unbeaten start to the season a week ago before eating up Ipswich's eight-game streak without defeat.
However, both of those games came at home and they must now try to translate those impressive performances to their displays on the road. Cardiff haven't won away this season, drawing four games and losing two.
Although Millwall are without a league win since the end of August - a run of eight games - they have drawn their last three against tough opposition, holding Wigan, Wolves and Derby. Last week's draw against Wolves was especially impressive as they came from 3-0 down to grab a point.
REFEREE WATCH! The man with the whistle today is Scott Duncan, who on Tuesday gave out a red card when overseeing the thrilling 4-3 win for Burton Albion at Carlisle United in League Two.
Looking at the recent head-to-head record between the two sides, it certainly favours Cardiff, who are unbeaten in their last eight games against Millwall. They've only won three of those games though and given Millwall's recent stubbornness, a draw seems to be the most likely result here.

PREDICTION TIME! With five minutes until kickoff, it's time for my prediction on the match ahead. It's hard to see Millwall winning and I think Cardiff might just nick it 2-1.
I just think that with a new-look Millwall defence, the likes of Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda will fancy themselves. They also have Peter Whittingham, who has scored two long-range goals in the last two wins, in their ranks.
Both sides are in their home strips today. Cardiff in bright red, Millwall in deep blue with white shorts.
KICKOFF! The hosts get us underway in South-East London.
Little to speak of in the early stages of this match. We're yet to have a shot, with Millwall seeing more of the ball.
Pilkington has the first shot of the day from distance that is instantly blocked by a brave Millwall challenge.
A brief stoppage in the match after Fuller accidentally caught Gunnarsson on the head with his boot. If you want to keep up with the West Ham-Man City clash in the Premier League, which kicks off in about 20 minutes, open this link in a new tab.
We're back underway after a good couple of minutes of treatment for Gunnarsson. Milllwall have their first shot almost straight away as Williams wildly slices a long way wide.
BOOKING! The first yellow card of the afternoon is shown to Millwall centre-back Beevers, who slid in nastily on Macheda. This is now a great position for the often-dangerous Whittingham...
It's not his best effort as the Cardiff midfielder strikes the wall with his curling effort.
At the other end Millwall win a free kick in a threatening area, but Briggs's delivery is headed half-clear before Upson's audacious volley flies high and wide. Neither keeper yet to be worked.
65%-35% reads the latest possession count in Millwall's favour. It's been a very scrappy start in all honesty, with neither side able to string together a number of passes.
SHOT! Brayford has some space after bursting forward from right-back and he goes for goal from the corner of the area. It's a tame effort by the former Derby man and Forde can watch it sail over.
Cardiff work a short corner well but the ball just doesn't fall their way in the box after Morrison's header back across goal.
CHANCE! Cardiff should be in front! Whittingham with a 70-yard pass over the top for Le Fondre, who takes the ball down on his chest and just has to sidefoot the ball over Forde, who started to come but then realised he wouldn't get there and was left out of position. Le Fondre gets it over the Irish number one, but he puts too much on it and the ball lands on the roof of the net.
CLOSE! Millwall respond to a few minutes of Cardiff pressure by going close themselves. Briggs again gets forward down the left and it's his cross that just evades Fuller's diving header. Had he made contact that would have surely been a goal given how he was hurtling at the ball.
If this match did finish as it is now, a draw, then Cardiff would stay 10th but Millwall would climb a place to 17th.
Manga is late with his tackle on Fuller and so Millwall have a free kick that Martin whips over. It's met by Gregory, but he can't get the direction of his header right so Marshall can watch it wide.
That's now seven shots in total (Millwall 3-4 Cardiff) and none have been on target.
Make that four apiece, and still none on target, as Upson controls a ball 20 yards out and snapshots it well wide of the far post.
So half an hour in and it's been a pretty even start. In fact, very even. Both teams have had four shots, and possession-wise it's Millwall 51%-49% Cardiff.
CARDIFF SUB: The visitors are forced into an early change. Remember when Gunnarsson suffered that blow to the head earlier? Well, it seems that he is struggling with his vision and Cardiff make the right decision in taking him off for Joe Ralls, who is usually a left-sider. That could see Noone come into a more central position.
Millwall go close from a corner as Martin's inswinger is met at the same time by the head of Beevers and glove of Marshall. It sort of sticks between the two before Cardiff manage to hack it clear.
DOUBLE-SAVE! Unbelievable goalkeeping from Forde, but it's perhaps equally bad finishing from Le Fondre. First, a loose ball broke Noone's way and his fierce low strike was pushed out by Forde straight to Le Fondre who, for some reason, tried to trick the Millwall stopper by going back behind him. Forde spread himself and the ball hit his legs. A great stop, but why didn't Le Fondre just slot it into the empty half of the goal?!
Pilkington is very lucky not to be booked after hacking the ball downfield after he had been punished for tugging back Briggs. From the resulting free kick, Beevers again challenges Marshall but this time fouls the Scotland keeper.
CLOSE! Fabulous strike from McDonald as he lets the ball drop onto his right foot before volleying it across goal and just past the far post. Marshall was definitely worried and would have been relieved to not see the net bulge behind him.
Three minutes are indicated by the fourth official after that head injury suffered by Gunnarsson earlier. I think both managers will want to deliver a rousing team talk because it's been a little drab.
HALF-TIME: MILLWALL 0-0 CARDIFF
Forty-five minutes down and it's as you were at minute one. Both sides have gone close, but it's been a bit of a nothing game.
Millwall have looked most dangerous from set pieces and almost scored the opener when McDonald's first-time volley whizzed just about an inch or so wide.
As for Cardiff, they really should be in front but Le Fondre hit it too close to Forde's body from close range. He really had no excuse to hit it there given that he had half of the goal to aim at.
If you want a quick recap of the opening half, then our half-time report is just what you need.
SNAP! Here's Millwall winger Martin in action in that opening period:
There was 13 shots in that opening half, but just two of them hit the target and they were both from Cardiff within about three seconds of each other. Noone's well-hit low drive was parried by Forde straight to Le Fondre, who tried to trick him but ended up hitting it at his legs. The latter also missed the second-best chance of the half by looping a fairly simple lob onto the roof of the net.
A reminder that Cardiff were forced to make a change before the break when Gunnarsson came off because of a head injury. Ralls his replacement.
KICKOFF! Cardiff get us back underway. Neither Holloway or Slade has made a change at the break.
Big jeer from the home fans as Brayford clips the ball with his standing foot before slicing the cross out of play for a goal kick. Cardiff had broken forward well and the three players in the middle would have been annoyed with their right-back there.
Millwall again look to hit Beevers with a set piece but again he fouls his man when challenging for the ball in the air.
Cardiff centre-back Manga has been particularly impressive this afternoon, barely putting a foot wrong both in the air and with his positioning. Fuller is having no luck against him and when you look at the Millwall bench, there's little attacking talent to excite.
GOAL! MILLWALL 1-0 CARDIFF (SHITTU)
I said Millwall were struggling to break Cardiff down and it's no surprise that they score from a set piece. Williams bounces the ball three or four times to signal what he's going to do with the corner before floating it to the back post where Shittu powerfully heads home. It probably shouldn't have counted as McDonald appeared to bundle over Marshall meaning that the Cardiff keeper was on the floor when Shittu headed in.
Millwall's tails are up and they threaten a second with a well-worked free kick that Upson fizzes a yard or so over the bar.
Martin, who is known to be capable of a rash challenge, is extremely fortunate not to be at least booked for a studs-up tackle on Brayford.
CHANCE! Gregory misses a chance similar to Le Fondre's in the first half by running onto Williams's ball over the top before sending his lob onto the roof of the net. Will Millwall end up regretting that?
CARDIFF SUBS: Slade is out of substitutions with about half an hour to go as he takes off strikers Le Fondre and Macheda for Nicky Maynard and Ravel Morrison.
Whittingham hacks at Briggs's legs to try to get the ball out from under him and that angers the Millwall left-back, who puts his head right in on the Cardiff man before calming down. One thing Holloway does not need, now that his side have taken the lead, is ill discipline.
Upson with a vicious strike from about 20 yards that Morrison bravely throws himself in front of. Superb defending by the former Reading man.
MISS! Gregory, shortly after missing a lob chance like Le Fondre in the first half, misses a gilt-edged chance like Le Fondre did in the first half! Marshall could only parry McDonald's low piledriver into the path of Gregory who only needed to hit the target with the follow-up but sidefooted over.
Fabio's shot from distance for Cardiff is saved at the near post by Forde. Maynard and Ravel Morrison haven't had any impact since coming on.
MILLWALL SUB: A change at the back from Holloway as Briggs is replaced by Webster, which should see Beevers move over to left-back.
Surprisingly, it's still Millwall who look more threatening even though Cardiff are the ones chasing the game. Martin just had a half-chance that was well-blocked by Manga after Fulller's knockdown.
Poor delivery from Whittingham, who is usually very reliable from dead balls. It was a good position to whip it in but he can't even beat the first man.
MILLWALL SUB: The Lions make their second change as Fuller, who has worked hard but not had much reward up front, is replaced by Woolford. That should give Millwall a bit more stability in the middle.
Ten minutes left for Cardiff to get something out of this game. It's a crucial period for Millwall - remember, they haven't won a league game since August 30!
Cardiff have already made all three of their substitutions, so it's up to the 11 men on the field to deliver for Slade otherwise it will be a first loss for him as manager.
CHANCE! Ravel Morrison showcases his dribbling ability by driving into the box before crossing low into the area where Pilkington's close-range shot is blocked.
Pilkington is good off both feet and has a go with his left foot that bounces just in front of Forde, who holds well.
JUST WIDE! Millwall almost seal the win as Martin tees the ball up for Upson to strike and the young midfielder curls it just wide of the far post.
SHOT! Noone with a surging run forward from midfield before he has a pop from about 25 yards and the ball flies over the top. There were plenty of red shirts forward there and he probably should have looked for a better option. How much time will be added on?
It's FOUR minutes left for Millwall to hold on for that elusive win.
End-to-end stuff as both sides threaten, but neither can get off a decent shot.
FULL-TIME: MILLWALL 1-0 CARDIFF
All over at The Den and it's a first win since August 30 for Millwall, while Cardiff's 100% start under Russell Slade comes to an end.
That lifts the Lions up to 14th in the table and they're now six adrift of the drop zone.
If you'd given Slade six points from his first three games, I'm sure he would have taken it. However, both wins came at home and he'll know that he has to sort out their away form - they're still winless on the road this season - if they are to seriously challenge for a top-six place.
