Sports Mole previews Monday's Swedish Allsvenskan clash between Mjallby AIF and Kalmar, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Kalmar will attempt to extend their unbeaten run to five games when they travel to Strandvallen to face Mjallby AIF in Monday's Allsvenkan contest.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be looking to kick off a positive run of results after losing three of their last four games.

Match preview

After beginning the season with two wins in their opening three games, Mjallby have found victories harder to come by in recent times, picking up just two wins in nine matches.

In their most recent outing, Mjallby failed to find the net for the seventh time in nine games, as they fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat to Hacken.

Due to their struggles in the final third, Monday's hosts are the second-lowest scorers in the top flight, but their defensive record makes for better reading.

Mjallby have kept six clean sheets and conceded 12 league goals this season - only the top two of Malmo and Elfsborg have shipped fewer.

They will take confidence from the fact that they have already produced a resolute display against Kalmar this season, playing out a goalless draw in March's Svenska Cupen meeting before going on to win the subsequent penalty shootout.

In contrast to their hosts, Kalmar head into Monday's fixture in a buoyant mood after dropping just two points from their last four league matches.

Consecutive victories over Varnamo and Norrkoping were followed by a 1-1 away draw with AIK, but Kalmar returned to winning ways in their previous encounter against Degerfors.

First-half strikes from Nahom Girmai and Deniz Hummet were enough to edge out Degerfors by a 2-1 scoreline, leaving Kalmar in fourth position.

Having lost just one of their previous five away games, the visitors be confident of adding to their 21-point tally on Monday.

After failing to win any of their last three trips to Strandvallen, Kalmar are aiming to record their first competitive away victory over Mjallby since October 2014.

Team News

Mjallby boss Anders Torstensson can call upon the majority of his squad, but he is still without the services of Silas Nwankwo and Adam Petersson.

After making a total of 47 appearances for the club, Otto Rosengren has left Mjallby to complete a move to league leaders Malmo.

Colin Rosler has spent time away with Norway at the Under-21 European Championship, but after suffering a group-stage exit, the defender could be available for Monday's contest.

As for the visitors, Carl Gustafsson has been sidelined since April, and he remains a doubt for the away meeting with Mjallby.

Kalmar manager Henrik Jensen could be tempted to select the same side that started the narrow victory over Degerfors.

Mileta Rajovic will attempt to add to his seven-goal league tally when he leads the Kalmar forward line on Monday.

Mjallby AIF possible starting lineup:
Tornqvist; Brorsson, Rosler, Pettersson; H. Johansson, Gustafson, Gustavsson, Stahl; Fenger, A. Johansson

Kalmar possible starting lineup:
Friedrich; Saetra, Sjostedt, Olafsson; Lindahl, Gojani, Karlsson, Girmai; Skrabb, Hummet, Rajovic

We say: Mjallby AIF 1-2 Kalmar

Kalmar will be in high spirits after dropping just two points in their last four games, and with three of Mjallby's previous four matches ending in defeat, we think that the visitors will prove too strong and return home with all three points.
