Montreal Impact have extended their lead at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference with a 2-0 win over Houston Dynamo at Saputo Stadium.
The Canadian team have opened the gap to four points, despite having played two games fewer than the New York Red Bulls.
Patrice Bernier put Felipe Martins through to open the scoring in the 14th minute, but the visitors was given the chance to equalise from the spot.
Matteo Ferrari felled Will Bruin inside the area and Giles Barnes stepped up to take the kick, but he blazed it high over the bar.
The former Derby County man's error was duly punished by Marco di Vaio, who doubled the Impact's lead in the 32nd minute.
