Seattle Sounders have climbed to second in the Western Conference with a 2-0 win against Montreal Impact.
The away side started well and took the lead in the eighth minute. Gonzalo Pineda's free kick was headed against the post by Lamar Neagle, but the ball hit the arm of Montreal goalkeeper Troy Perkins and rolled in.
That was the way it stayed for the rest of the first half, but Seattle doubled their advantage with just under an hour played when Obafemi Martins converted Kenny Copper's cross.
Hassoun Camara headed over as the home side tried to find a response, before Djimi Traore made a goal-line clearance from Blake Smith's shot.
