Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he hopes Vurnon Anita's display against Club Brugge will give him the confidence to produce similar performances on a regular basis.
The 23-year-old netted a 25-yard volley as Newcastle came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in Belgium and Pardew has hailed Anita's performance as his 'best game for the club'.
"Anita had his best game for us," Pardew said. "I don't care how much money you have cost or what club you have been at before, you need to play well in the new shirt and really that's his first really good game where he looked like a class act.
"He got a great goal, he was good all night, so that was a real bonus and it will give him confidence going forward."
Pardew signed Anita from Ajax for an undisclosed fee during the summer.
