Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle is reportedly close to sealing a move to Newcastle United, just two months after signing a new contract at Selhurst Park.
The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Eagles in April, but it is believed that the forward has opted to drop down into the Championship with the Magpies.
According to Sky Sports News, Gayle is expected to undergo a medical with the North-East outfit at some point today after a fee was agreed between the two clubs.
The former Peterborough United player, who reportedly turned down a £9m move to Bristol City last summer, has struggled for first-team action at Palace.
Should Gayle join Newcastle, he will become Rafael Benitez's second signing since becoming manager following the arrival of Belgian goalkeeper Matz Sels.
