International players' union FIFPro has stated that the four-month ban issued to Luis Suarez "infringes his right to work".
The Liverpool striker is not permitted to take part in any football activity for four months, and will be ineligible for nine international matches.
The sanction was served by FIFA after the controversial frontman was found guilty of biting the shoulder of Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during Uruguay's 1-0 win at the World Cup in Brazil on Tuesday.
According to PA, FIFPro claimed in a statement that "rehabilitation and serious treatment must be a part of any sanction" for the striker.
It added: "Luis Suarez deserves all the support he needs including legal support in the appeal case in order to achieve a reduction of the sanctions."
The Uruguayan FA are planning to lodge an appeal against the ban.
