Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Norwich City and Southampton.

The Canaries will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Hull City last week, as they went down to a Robbie Brady penalty. Chris Hughton's side have spent the cash this season and will want their first win in the league to come sooner rather than later.

Southampton have had a great start this season as the backed up their win over West Bromwich Albion on the opening-day with a point against Sunderland last week. Mauricio Pochettino's side have also spent big in the summer and will want to continue their fine form.

The teams have been announced and we'll start with the home side.

Chris Hughton has made two changes to his side that were defeated at Hull last week. Johan Elmander and Sebastien Bassong come into the team to replace Alex Tettey and Russell Martin in the starting lineup. The outgoing duo have to settle for a place on the bench.

Mauricio Pochettino also makes two changes to his side from their draw with Sunderland. Luke Shaw and Jay Rodriguez drop to the bench as Pablo Osvaldo makes his first start for the club, while Dan Fox starts at left-back.

So there are first starts for new signings on both sides as Johan Elmander plays for Norwich and Osvaldo is in the lineup for the Saints. It will be interesting to see, which player has the better impact for their new side this afternoon.

Both teams will probably set up in a similar fashion with Elmander playing just in front of Ricky van Wolfswinkel while Osvlado may fulfill the same role with Lambert for Pochettino's side.

STAT ATTACK! Southampton haven't lost to Norwich in their last seven meetings.

That's not good news for Canaries fans going into today's game but last season both games between the two teams ended in draws. The match at Carrow Road was 0-0, as Saints keeper Artur Boruc made a crucial last minute penalty save from Grant Holt to earn his side a point.

Chris Hughton is adamant that he wants his side to bounce back from their defeat last week. He told the club's official website: "We were very disappointed last weekend in the manner we lost the game – we felt very hard done by with the penalty decision itself, but you have to bounce back from that and we put out a strong side midweek. I think that was a consequence of last weekend and also respect to the opposition and the competition."

Mauricio Pochettino feels that his Southampton side are in for a tough game against a strong Canaries side this afternoon. He told the club's official website: “It’s going to be a complicated game away in their stadium. They have reinforced their squad very well, so we’re expecting a very tough game against them. They’re physically a very strong side and a very quick side. They go on the counter-attack very quickly as well which is one of their main strengths. They’re very well organised, and they know exactly what they need to do in every single moment of the game, so overall they’re a very tough side playing against them away from home."

STAT ATTACK! Southampton have had their best ever start to a Premier League campaign after taking four points from their opening two fixtures.

STAT ATTACK! Norwich had the second highest amount of passes in the Premier League last week against Hull but couldn't find a breakthrough. Only Manchester City had more.

We're getting ready for the off at Carrow Road as both sets of players make their way out onto the pitch. We should be underway shortly.

Referee! Today's referee is Howard Webb.

An early test for Fox down the left, as Snodgrass runs down the right flank but he's equal to the task and wins a free kick for the Saints.

Strong start for the home side as they have possession deep in Southampton territory but Fer annoys the home support by going backwards towards Turner instead of pushing forward.

CHANCE!! Redmond cuts in from the left and beats two men before firing at goal, but his effort goes wide of the post with Boruc beaten.

The first foray forward for the Saints ends in disappointment as Lallana can't keep himself onside from a pass from Rickie Lambert.

Snodgrass wins a free kick down the right for the Canaries. He drills his cross in towards goal but Lallana was there to head away the danger.

Redmond does well to keep an attack alive as he's played a short pass by Fer, as he holds off a challenge from Whittaker to find Garrido.

CHANCE!! Johnson gets a shot at goal from just outside the box but he can't direct his effort on target and Southampton get a goal kick.

Lovren is down on the pitch with a knock, but he appears to be ok for the Saints.

Norwich win a free kick down the left, Snodgrass whips the ball in from deep, it's cleared out to Garrido, who crosses in looking for Van Wolfswinkel but it goes just over his head and the Saints clear the danger.

SAVE!! Boruc makes a brilliant save to deny Fer at the near post, as the midfielder looks to tap the ball in from close range following a Snodgrass free kick.

Southampton get their first effort on goal but it's dismal as Wanayama strikes from distance and his shot goes well wide of the post.

PENALTY SHOUT!! Lallana raids down the left and hits a cross into the area, which appears to hit the hand of Johnson but Webb waves away the appeals.

Southampton build nicely through the middle and Ward-Prowse threads a delightful through ball for Osvaldo, but the forward can't keep himself onside as the linesman's flag is raised.

The Saints win a free kick just inside the Norwich half, Ward-Prowse delivers but Ruddy does well as he comes off his line to claim the ball on the penalty spot.

Snodgrass raids down the right and threads Whittaker through down the line, he whips a cross into the box but Boruc beats Van Wolfswinkel to the ball with a solid claim.

The delivery from both teams just hasn't been there so far this afternoon, they need better quality in the final third.

Chambers sums this up as he loops a cross from the right straight into the hands of Ruddy, when deep in Norwich territory.

Elmander whips in a cross for the Canaries, the ball just doesn't fall for any players in yellow in the penalty area as the Saints defend well as Lallana makes a great last ditch tackle on Fer.

CHANCE!! Norwich hit the Saints on the counter as Redmond drives forward, he slides a pass to Snodgrass who in turn releases Whittaker, who drives an effort across goal but the ball goes out for a goal kick.

The ball just hasn't fall kindly for Norwich in the final third, they've been doing most of the pressing this afternoon, and deserve a goal for their efforts.

Southampton are really struggling with their delivery at the moment as Chambers loops another high cross into the hands of Ruddy, while looking for the head of Lambert.

OFF THE POST!! Lallana sees his volleyed effort from the edge of the area crash of the post as bounce clear, after Ward-Prowse's free kick was headed into his direction by Bassong.

Ward-Prowse hits another dangerous delivery into the area and Lambert looks to pounce as Norwich fail to clear the danger but Webb blows his whistle for a foul.

Lallana wastes a good opportunity to find Osvaldo in the area, as he fails to beat Whittaker with a through ball. Story of the half at the moment.

So it's all square at the break at Carrow Road. Both side's have had their chances but it's still goalless.

Adam Lallana had the best opportunity of the half but he saw his left-footed volley crash of the post and bounce clear. Meanwhile, Leroy Fer was denied by an excellent save from Artur Boruc.

Chances have been few and far between apart from that, with both side's deliveries from wide areas being quite poor as John Ruddy and Artur Boruc have claimed crosses with ease on numerous occasions.

We're back underway at Carrow Road.

Bassong heads the ball back to Ruddy and for a moment it doesn't look like there's enough pace on the ball to reach the keeper with Lambert lurking, but Ruddy scrambles and collects before the England international can pounce.

SAVE!! Ruddy produces an excellent stop to deny Osvaldo, as the forward collected the ball in the area and tries a shot on the turn which looked to be heading in, but the keeper sticks out a hand to keep the scores level.

Another free kick for the Canaries as Snodgrass is fouled. He whips the ball in and Fer rises highest in the area but his header goes wide of the post.

Redmond does well down the left as he beats the challenge of Chambers before he puts the ball into the box, however, it doesn't fall at the feet of a Canaries player and the Saints hook the ball clear.

Again Redmond is dangerous down the left, he beats Chambers before crossing with his left foot but Elmander can't direct his header on target from inside the penalty area.

Norwich are really upping the ante in the second half as this time Snodgrass goes down the right and whips a dangerous cross into the box but Lovren is there to head clear. From the follow-up the former Leeds United man lifts his second effort over the bar.

Substitution: Gaston Ramirez replaces Adam Lallana for Southampton.

Snodgrass is coming more and more into the game. He finds space on the right and tries to cut in onto his left-footed, but he is crowded out by three Southampton players and is easily dispossessed.

Lambert is played through by Osvaldo and unleashes a stinging volley at Ruddy, and the keeper makes a magnificent save but the England international was flagged offside anyway.

Norwich take the lead and it's that man Redmond who has been threatening for most of the second half whose got the goal. He collects the ball on the left and cuts inside onto his right foot and drills the ball into the bottom corner past Boruc.

Southampton try to respond immediately and Lambert gets the ball on the edge of the box but the attack comes to grinding halt when Turner makes an excellent sliding tackle to dispossess the England man.

Norwich are in control of this match at the moment as they're are knocking the ball around with ease and look like they want a second to kill off the game.

Snodgrass wins a corner and lifts a dangerous cross as his side push for a second goal, but Lovren is there to clear the danger with a solid header beating Van Wolfswinkel to the ball.

Ramirez tries to raid forward for the Saints, he is short of options in attack so tries to go himself running directly at Bassong but the defender wins the ball with ease and clears.

Southampton push forward again and win a corner. Ward-Prowse's delivery is poor and headed clear but only as far as Davis on the edge of the area who puts his shot well wide of the target.

Norwich are just trying to see this game out, they're sitting back more and are not committing as many men forward. Can Southampton snatch another late equaliser?

CHANCE!! Redmond goes close again, as he beats Chambers and goes outside on his left-foot but this time Boruc gets down low to his right and makes a good stop to keep his effort out.

Ward-Prowse crosses for Lambert, who can't quite get the ball under control but it falls to Davis who tries a first time volley but his effort is deflected wide by Turner.

Again Ward-Prowse lifts a corner into the area but his delivery this time is poor and is easily collected by Ruddy.

There will be four minutes of added time.

PENALTY SHOUT!! Snodgrass raids forward and beats Lovren, he bears down on goal and is brought down by Fonte but Webb waves play on, much to the fury of the winger.

It's all over at Carrow Road and Norwich have a deserved victory thanks to Nathan Redmond's 68th minute strike. The Canaries were by far the better team and really turned up the heat on Southampton in the second half but they still needed a moment of magic from the former Birmingham City man, which he certainly provided.

Southampton weren't at their best today especially going forward, They did have a moment of misfortune when Adam Lallana struck the post in the first half but after that they created very little. A concern perhaps for Mauricio Pochettino given all the money they've spent in the summer.

The three points actually lift Norwich above the Saints in the Premier League table despite both teams being on four points. The Canaries move to eighth, while Pochettino's side are a spot below in ninth.
