Grant Holt has said that he should get an England call-up if he maintains his current form.
The 31-year-old has never represented his country, but has been buoyed by seeing Leon Osman, who is also 31, make his England debut this week.
The Norwich City striker told The Sun: "If you're playing well, like Leon Osman is doing, then you should get called up.
"I've scored three in the last six games now. I'm up and running. If I keep scoring the goals and knocking on the door and it gets picked on form, then I won't be far off.
"If you asked John Terry and Rio Ferdinand have they had a tough game when I've played against them, I'm sure they would answer yes."
Holt scored 17 goals in all competitions for Norwich last season.
