Norwich City score four first-half goals on their way to a 5-1 win over Nice at Carrow Road.

Norwich City have thrashed Nice 5-1 in a pre-season friendly at Carrow Road this evening, with four of their goals coming before half time.

The Canaries broke the deadlock after just five minutes when Nathan Redmond drilled the ball in from a Bradley Johnson through-ball.

It took just four more minutes for Norwich to double their advantage, with Lewis Grabban left unmarked at the far post to convert from an Andrew Surman cross.

Nice's first opportunity came shortly after, but Paulin Puel pulled his shot just wide to leave the French side two goals adrift.

The visitors were able to get back into contention later in the first half though as they were awarded a penalty for a Russell Martin handball, which Dario Cvitanich converted.

However, the hosts added a third on the half-hour mark as Johnson found the target with a curling free kick which took a slight deflection off the ball.

Neil Adams's side continued to push, and were able to extend their lead on the cusp of half time when Redmond rounded a couple of defenders before delivering the ball to Surman, who flicked in for the fourth Norwich goal of the first half.

Grabban looked lively at the start of the second half, but it was Elliott Bennett who made it five after 60 minutes, running at the Nice defence before unleashing a powerful strike.

Cvitanich tried to force his second of the night from a tight angle late on, but John Ruddy managed to get low to make the save with his legs.

Ruddy had to be alert again in the closing seconds as the French side continued to look for a consolation, but the keeper did just enough to secure the four-goal winning margin for the Championship side.
