Philadelphia Union secured a vital 1-0 home win over Chicago Fire in their MLS clash thanks to a goal from Jack McInerney.
The Union took the lead in the third minute when Sebastien Le Toux fired a low cross into the penalty area and found the run of McInerneny, who headed the ball past Sean Johnson into the net.
Chicago responded almost immediately but Zac MacMath did well to keep Patrick Nyarko close-range effort out as he tipped the ball past the post.
After the break, MacMath made another fine stop as he did well to reach and tip over a Dilly Duka effort that looked to be creeping in.
Chicago's situation worsened when they were reduced to 10 men as Wells Thompson received his second bookable offence and was duly sent off for pushing down Danny Cruz.
The Fire pushed for an equaliser but couldn't find one as they succumbed to their seventh defeat of the year, while Union moved into fifth place in the MLS Eastern Conference.
