Paulo Bento has insisted that he will not step down as Portugal manager if his side fail to progress to the last 16 of the World Cup.
The Seleccao, who are currently bottom of Group G with one game remaining, take on Ghana tomorrow evening needing all three points.
Even then, Portugal require a victor in USA's meeting with Germany in the other game in that particular group, as well as a swing of at least five goals.
"Whatever happens in tomorrow's match, I will not resign from my post as coach," the 45-year-old is quoted as saying by FIFA.com.
"That is not my intention. It is not the intention of the federation and not the intention of its president. With that, everything has been said.
"We have to win and then we will see. We have a match to play, the United States and Germany have a match to play."
Bento was appointed as manager of Portugal in 2010.
