Preston North End manager Simon Grayson has insisted that he is proud of his players despite their defeat to Rotherham United in the League One playoffs.
The Whites went down 4-2 on aggregate following a 3-1 defeat to the Millers on Thursday evening, but Grayson is adamant that he is pleased with his side's season.
"Football is about fine margins and things have not gone our way today," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.
"We've hit the post twice and both times it has gone out to one of their players. We didn't have much luck but we've lost to a fine team.
"The lads can be proud because they've had an excellent season. The football club is progressing and there is no doubt about that."
Rotherham will meet Leyton Orient at Wembley Stadium in the playoff final for a place in the Championship.
