Kieran Lee celebrated his 100th appearance for Sheffield Wednesday with the opening goal in the 3-1 victory over Preston North End.
Former Manchester United midfielder Lee gave the Owls the lead on the stroke of half time with his first goal of the season thanks to a neat one-two with Fernando Forestieri.
The hosts then doubled their lead ten minutes after the break when confusion in the Preston penalty area allowed Daniel Pudil a simple tap in to notch his first goal for the club since joining from Premier League outfit Watford.
Alan Browne gave the visitors hope when he converted from a corner with 15 minutes left to play, and threatened to equalise on a number of occasions, before substitute Lewis McGugan sealed the Owls' win with a spectacular strike from distance in the sixth minute of added time.
