Real Madrid will be bidding to make it nine straight wins in all competitions at the start of the 2022-23 campaign when they take on Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby this weekend.

Los Blancos are currently top of the La Liga table, boasting 15 points from five matches, with their last league game ending in a 4-1 victory over Mallorca.

Carlo Ancelotti's side will enter this match off the back of a Champions League success, meanwhile, having recorded a 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig at Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with Atletico, who are seventh in Spain's top flight, boasting 10 points from their five matches.

Karim Benzema

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 18 (vs. Atletico Madrid)

Karim Benzema was again missing against Leipzig due to the thigh problem that he picked up against Celtic in the Champions League, but he has a slight chance of being back against Atletico Madrid.

Eder Militao

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 18 (vs. Atletico Madrid)

Lucas Vazquez is facing a spell on the sidelines with the thigh problem that he picked up against Mallorca in the league last weekend, with the Spaniard out until after the international break.
