Cristiano Ronaldo has apologised after being sent off in Real Madrid's 2-1 win over Cordoba on Saturday.
The Portuguese was given his marching orders on 82 minutes for appearing to kick out at Edimar in a moment of frustration, with Los Blancos being held 1-1 at the time.
"I apologise to all and especially to Edimar for my reckless act in the game today," he wrote on Twitter afterwards.
The 29-year-old could miss the derby with local rivals Atletico Madrid on February 7 if he is given a three-game ban for the incident.
Real did not have a numerical disadvantage for long, though, as Federico Cartabia was sent off five minutes later for a foul in the box, with Gareth Bale converting the resulting penalty.
