Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vazquez has insisted that his side have a "great squad", despite their lack of signings this summer.
Madrid, who notably lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, have only added youngster Vinicius Junior to their team following their Champions League final victory in May.
Speaking to Cadena Cope, however, Vazquez said that Madrid will still be able to compete on all fronts next season.
"We have a great squad who are shaping up well for the new season," the Spaniard said. "All the players at this club are at an extremely high level and we are enjoying a strong pre-season, the training is very good.
"My own place in the team? It is up to every player to give their maximum and to convince the coach, who then has decision to make.
"For me it was great to be captain for a few minutes [against Juventus], for someone to have come through the youth system here and to be entrusted in that way is an honour."
The La Liga season kicks off in two weeks' time, with Madrid facing Getafe in their first fixture.
