Mario Mandzukic's second-minute strike proved enough for Atletico Madrid to win the 2014 Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid on Friday evening.
The capital rivals entered the second leg on terms following a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu on Tuesday.
However, it was Atletico that claimed the trophy at the expense of Los Blancos, who finished with 10 men after Luka Modric saw red late on.
Here, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed during the all-Madrid affair.
ATLETICO MADRID
Goal
Miguel Moya: Was purchased this summer to replace Thibaut Courtois and looks to be an inspired signing. Made some smart saves and was confident from crosses. Radiated calmness to his defence. (7/10)
Defence
Juanfran: Was not really seen as an attacking threat until the second period, but was always defensively sound. There are now few better right-backs in world football than the Spaniard. (7/10)
Diego Godin: Difficult to continue thinking of superlatives for the centre-back, who was once again faultless tonight. Aerially dominant, positionally sound and strong in the tackle. (8/10)
Miranda: Alongside Godin, proved unbeatable at the heart of the back four. Never looked flustered and continued to deal with the interchanging Real Madrid attack. (8/10)
Guilherme Siqueira: Has big shoes to fill as Filipe Luis's replacement, but has slotted effortlessly into the Atletico XI. Strong defensively and a threat going forward. (7/10)
Midfield
Koke: Did not have too much joy from a couple of long-range efforts, but his set-piece delivery was once again fantastic. A bundle of energy in the middle of the park. (7/10)
Gabi: Skipper's legs might be ageing, but his mind is as sharp as it has ever been. A seriously calming influence in the middle of the park and an incredible passer of the ball. (8/10)
Tiago: Completely ran the show at the Vicente Calderon. Played the 90 minutes at his own pace as he controlled the entire match from the middle section of the field. (9/10)
Attack
Raul Garcia: Should have scored with a point-blank header in the first period, but it is difficult to be critical on what was another fine evening for the versatile Spaniard. (8/10)
Mario Mandzukic: Proved the difference on the night, with his well-taken second-minute goal enough to win the tie. A true centre-forward's performance from the Croatian. (8/10)
Antoine Griezmann: Set up Mandzukic with a brilliant header and proved a threat with his mazy runs in the final third. Dropped back to help his midfield in the second period. (7/10)
Substitutes
Raul Jimenez: Replaced Griezmann with 15 minutes remaining and certainly contributed by occupying the two Real Madrid centre-backs in the final stages. (6/10)
Cristian Rodriguez: Had just five minutes to make an impact after replacing Mandzukic, but his energy and work-rate proved vital in the latter moments. (6/10)
Saul Niguez: Hardly touched the ball after replacing Garcia in stoppage time. (5/10)
REAL MADRID
Goal
Iker Casillas: Could do nothing for the goal and made some bright stops throughout the contest. Much more like it from the Spaniard, who has been in strong recent form for his club. (7/10)
Defence
Dani Carvajal: Always a threat in the final third with his work-rate and crossing ability, but was too often caught high up the field. That said, he was one of his side's better players on the night. (7/10)
Sergio Ramos: Aerially strong at the heart of the back four and could have snatched a late equaliser from a Carvajal cross, but could not make strong enough contact with his head. (7/10)
Raphael Varane: Young Frenchman was handed a start in place of Pepe, but had an uncomfortable evening. Looked slightly off the pace, both with and without possession of the ball. (6/10)
Fabio Coentrao: Decent enough defensively, but hardly offered an attacking threat before being replaced by Marcelo in the second period. (6/10)
Midfield
Xabi Alonso: Was one of Real Madrid's best players last season, but has been disappointing in their last two matches. Failed to demonstrate his usually excellent range of passing. (6/10)
Luka Modric: Late red card summed up what was a frustrating evening for Croatian. Plenty of guile and imagination, but struggled to produce that final pass. (6/10)
Toni Kroos: Was unusually quiet in the first period, but still came as a major surprise when he was substituted for Cristiano Ronaldo at the interval. (6/10)
Attack
James Rodriguez: Handed a start following Ronaldo's injury and came close with a couple of efforts in the first period. Decent performance, but nothing too spectacular from the Colombian. (6/10)
Karim Benzema: Again extremely subdued. Played his part in a couple of nice moves, but hardly featured for long spells. Arguably Real Madrid's poorest performer on the night. (5/10)
Gareth Bale: Always a threat in the final third, but found space extremely limited. Switched wings throughout the contest, but had no real joy on a frustrating evening for the Welshman. (6/10)
Substitutes
Cristiano Ronaldo: Replaced Kroos at the interval, but still looks some way off being fully fit. Recent injury problems must be a worry for the club. (6/10)
Isco: Entered with 25 minutes remaining, but really struggled to influence proceedings. Could find his development harmed by a lack of minutes this season. (5/10)
Marcelo: Was introduced to provide more of an attacking threat from left-back, but struggled to break past Juanfran. Still seems to have a slight hangover from the World Cup. (5/10)
