Real Madrid are reportedly hoping to target Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and use the funds generated from the imminent sale of Raphael Varane to Manchester United.

United confirmed on Tuesday that they have reached an agreement with Los Blancos to sign the 28-year-old defender in a deal believed to be worth £41m plus add-ons.

The sale of Varane for such a fee, as well as the departure of Sergio Ramos, who was earning around £312,000 a week, has seen Real recoup some funds for their transfer budget, though marquee signings this summer are unlikely.

According to The Mirror, Real have a strong interest in signing Mbappe, but they hope that further departures within the next year will help free up more funds to help bring the French forward to Spain in 2022-23.

The 22-year-old has been a long-term target for the Spanish giants and the forward is considered as a dream signing for club president Florentino Perez.

Mbappe, who is believed to be interested in a switch to Real Madrid, has just one year remaining on his current contract and he is yet to negotiate with PSG to extend it. body check tags ::
