Real Salt Lake have registered a comfortable 3-0 victory over Toronto FC at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah in the MLS.
The hosts were in control of the contest right from the start and took the lead in the 11th minute.
Doneil Henry brought down Alvaro Saborio inside the penalty area and the forward himself stepped up to successfully covert the spot kick.
Luis Gil doubled Real's lead just before the half-hour mark with a left-footed shot from inside the Toronto box.
Mark Bloom could have halved the deficit for the Canadian outfit in the 36th minute had his header from a Justin Morrow cross been on target.
Michael Bradley came even closer for Toronto nine minutes into the second half when he crashed his long-range shot crash against the Real post.
A minute later the home side scored their third and final goal of the match through Saborio, who latched onto Javier Morales's through-ball and slotted home from close range.
Toronto were denied by the frame of the Real post again just moments later when Jermain Defoe saw his shot from outside the box come back off the post.
The visitors pushed for a lifeline in the final 30 minutes of the contest, but failed to register on the scoresheet.
