Roma have announced that Kevin Strootman has returned to training with the rest of the first team.
The Netherlands international has been plagued by a knee complaint ever since he damaged his cruciate ligament in March 2014.
He has since undergone three operations to correct the problem, the most recent of which was in September last year.
Having now restarted training, there have been suggestions that Strootman could be included in head coach Luciano Spalletti's starting lineup before the end of the month.
The 25-year-old scored during a 45-minute outing for Roma's reserve side last week.
