Sports Mole's live commentary of the Serie A clash between Roma and Torino.

Roma headed into their Monday night Serie A clash with Torino in Rome keen to bounce back from their derby defeat to Lazio last weekend.

After a goalless first half, Pablo Osvaldo broke the deadlock in the 71st minute from the penalty spot, and Miralem Pjanic wrapped up the points with a deflected effort from outside the area with four minutes of normal time remaining.

Read how it all unfolded in our minute-by minute live commentary below.

Hello and welcome to Sports Mole’s live minute-by-minute text commentary of the Serie A game between Roma and Torino at the Stadio Olimpico tonight. It promises to be a very exciting match and you can follow all the action live here on this page.
Heading into the match in Rome, hosts Roma find themselves eighth in the Serie A standings with 17 points from 12 matches.
On the other hand, visitors Torino are just three points above the relegation zone in 13th.
The team lists are out now and here is how the two teams will line up tonight.
Roma: Goicoechea; Piris, Marquinhos, Castan, Balzaretti; Bradley, Pjanic, Florenzi; Lamela, Totti, Osvaldo
Torino: Gillet; Rodriguez, D'Ambrosio, Ogbonna, Darmian; Basha, Gazzi; Cerci, Vives, Bianchi, Sansone
So the big team news tonight is that Miralem Pjanic comes in for Daniele De Rossi for Roma. De Rossi is suspended for tonight’s match after being sent off against Lazio in the Rome derby last weekend.
Leandro Castan replaces Nicolas Burdisso in central defence for Roma, and will line up alongside Ivan Piris, Marquinhos and Federico Balzaretti at the back.
For Torino, Angelo Ogbonna comes in for Kamil Glik.
Let’s go back to De Rossi. The Italian midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from Roma following his red card last weekend and his (reported) clashes with coach Zdenek Zeman. However, his ex-wife says that De Rossi does not want to leave Roma ever.
“As his wife, then as his ex-wife, I always told him to take the money and leave,” Tamara Pisnoli told RTL 102.5 Radio. “However, he always replied that he is attached to this jersey, to the team and his city, so could not do that to the fans. Only now he sees those same fans turning against him. Gratitude doesn’t exist in football, as they all say that Daniele is playing badly without adding that the entire team is not exactly doing well. Has he lost his desire to stay with Roma? No, unfortunately. He loves Roma and the fans too much.”
Just 10 more minutes to go before the match kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico. Roma will be favourites to win the clash, but Torino cannot be underestimated especially as Giampiero Ventura’s side have yet to lose away from home in the league this season.
The players are coming on to the pitch now, as the game will begin in a matter of minutes.
And now the game begins...
Roma on the attack right from the start as they earn a corner. It is a short one that Totti eventually crosses into the box, but Torino clear the danger away with ease.
There are a number of empty seats at the Stadio Olimpico tonight and on the pitch I can see white lines that were used for the rugby match between Italy and New Zealand at the weekend.
PJANIC! Pjanic places a long ball over the Torino defence and finds Osvaldo inside the area. The striker crosses across the face of the goal that Totti collects and then tees up Pjanic just outside the 18-yard box. He shoots, but fails to keep his shot on target.
OSVALDO! The Roma striker is released again by Pjanic, but his shot from a narrow angle on the right side of the penalty area goes just wide of the Torino goal.
Pjanic once again send a long ball over the top into the Torino defence. He has started the game very well, the Roma midfielder... Remember, he has been drafted into the Roma lineup in place of De Rossi, who is suspended.
OSVALDO! That was so so so close! What a brilliant run that was by Erik Lamela, who gallops with the ball from inside his own half and then tees up Osvaldo, whose curling effort from the left goes just wide of the top right corner of the Torino goal.
It has been all Roma in the opening 10 minutes of the game at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, with Pablo Osvaldo getting two very good chances to put his side into the lead.
Torino are struggling to gain possession of the football at the moment and are firmly on the backfoot.
PJANIC! The Roma midfielder is on fire at the moment, as he shoots at the Torino goal from distance. His shot takes a deflection and goes out for a corner that the home side fail to capitalise on.
Francesco Totti releases Ivan Piris down the right flank and the defender floats in a cross. It is a poor one, I have to say, and Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna clears it with ease.
Good defending there from Alessandro Gazzi, as he dispossesses Federico Balzaretti after the Roma defender went past Alessio Cerci and cut inside.
TOTTI! What a superb effort from the Roma captain as he unleashes a brilliant curling effort from just outside the Torino penalty box aimed at the top right corner! But his attempt goes narrowly wide of the mark.
The match is being played entirely in the Torino half of the pitch now, as Roma are all over the visitors from Turin.
OSVALDO! The Roma striker goes for a spectacular overhead kick and spectacularly misses it! Totti sets up Piris on the right flank and this time his cross is a good one, but Osvaldo fails to connect with it. Roma keep possession of the ball, though, until Alessandro Florenzi blasts his shot wide.
OSVALDO! Lamela gallops with the ball down the right, gets past two players and releases Osvaldo down the middle, but the striker’s final effort goes wide.
I can sense a goal coming for Roma, and, frankly, given the number of chances they have had, they should be 1-0 up by now.
Free kick to Roma in a dangerous position, as Migjen Basha brings down Totti.
Miralem Pjanic takes the free kick, but the midfielder’s attempt clips the wall and goes out for a corner that Roma fail to capitalise on.
Rolando Bianchi is shown the yellow card for his challenge on Piris on the right flank.
Erik Lamela takes the free kick from the right with his left foot, but Jean-Francois Gillet claims it with ease.
Torino make a rare foray into the Roma penalty area, but they are foiled eventually. And with ease.
Half an hour gone and it remains goalless between Roma and Torino at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The hosts have been by far the better side in the game so far.
BALZARETTI! Wonderful dinked ball over the top from Totti but Balzaretti just fails to control it with just the goalkeeper to beat.
Good defending there from Mario Santana as he intercepts a pass from Totti meant for Pjanic in the midfield.
Lamela goes down inside the Torino penalty area following contact with Basha, but the referee says play on. He seems to be hurt there, as the Roma medical team comes on for his treatment.
The game resumes, with Roma hogging possession inside the Torino half.
PJANIC! The Roma midfielder shoots at the Torino goal from 25 yards, but Gillet claims the ball with a diving save.
Yellow card there for Piris.
This time Florenzi shoots at the Torino goal from the edge of penalty box but it sails over the cross.
BIANCHI! Alessio Cerci gallops down the right flank as Torino launch a quick counterattack and slips a pass to Rolando Bianchi, who shoots at the Roma goal but fails to get his attempt past Mauro Goicoechea.
Oh, another great chance for Roma to break the deadlock, this time Alessandro Florenzi floating a lovely diagonal ball into the Torino area aimed for the head of Osvaldo. However, Gillet is the first to get to the ball. He hurts himself in the process, and the Torino medical team are now on the pitch for him.
Gillet is back on his feet now and resumes play.
Less than five minutes left in the first half plus what I expect to be at least three minutes of injury time, Will we see a goal from Roma between now and the half-time whistle?
Brilliant challenge from Marquinhos on Bianchi inside the Roma penalty area! That was probably the best tackle I have seen in this game so far. He won the ball so cleanly, and that too inside his own penalty box.
Roma on the counterattack as Totti whips in a cross from the left flank. However, Gillet has no problem in collecting it.
Two minutes of injury time have been awarded here.
It is half-time at the Stadio Olimpico in the Serie A clash between Roma and Torino, and it is goalless. Zdenek Zeman’s side were by far the better team in the first 45 minutes and could have scored on at least three occasions. However, Torino have defended doggedly and have kept the home side’s attackers at bay.
Stay tuned on this page for all the second-half action in Rome. It promises to be a very entertaining and intense second 45 minutes at the Stadio Olimpico.
The second half action will start in a matter of minutes now.
And Torino kick off proceedings in the second half. No change in personnel for either side at half-time.
Osvaldo goes close again for Roma in the early minutes of the second half. It has been a somewhat quiet start to the game in the second period.
Torino earn a corner that Santana takes, but it is easily claimed by Goicoechea. Roma launch a counterattack; however, Pjanic fails to pull the trigger and the ball is cleared away
Now Cerci tries a curling effort for Torino with his left foot but it is saved by Goicoechea.
Totti takes a fierce attempt on the Torino goal that forces out a good save from Gillet.
Torino are looking comfortable at the moment, I have to say. They are soaking the pressure and then trying to launch a counterattack. Good strategy from Ventura.
Good attacking venture there from Torino. Alessio Cerci floats in a cross from the right that Alessandro Sgrigna fails to control properly. The Torino striker is shown the yellow card for simulation after he goes down under a challenge from Ivan Piris.
TOTTI! The Roma captain shoots at goal from the edge of the penalty area, but his shot takes a deflection and goes over the crossbar.
The game is picking up momentum now, as the Roma fans raise their voices and cheer their team on.
OSVALDO! Once again the Roma striker shoots at the Torino goal from close range and once again Gillet makes a comfortable save.
Roma are starting to get the upperhand in the second half now and are asserting themselves over their visitors from Turin.
Now Torino go on the attack as a cross is drilled in from the left flank that Leandro Castan clears away for a corner.
GAZZI! The corner is delivered and Alessandro Gazzi heads towards goal, but Goicoechea prevents his header from going in.
Roma should be careful from set pieces and also must take care not to get caught on the break. Because that is what Torino are playing for.
SUBSTITUTION Roma captain Francesco Totti comes off and on comes forward Mattia Destro.
SUBSTITUTION. Marquinho comes on for Alessandro Florenzi, as Roma make their second change of the evening.
Marquinho gets into the action rightaway, as he gallops down the left flank and then crosses in looking for Osvaldo, but Torino once again defend brilliantly.
SUBSTITUTION. Torino make their first change of the evening. Alessandro Sgrigna comes off for Gianluca Sansone.
ROMA DEMAND A PENALTY! Marquinho goes down under a challenge from Ogbonna and the referee initially says play on. But Roma make their protests as they surround the linesman and the spot kick is eventually given.
GOAL PABLO OSVALDO scores! The Roma forward slots in the penalty with ease, as Gillet gets no chance at all.
So Roma go 1-0 up and, to be honest, it is nothing more than what they deserve. Meanwhile, Danilo D`Ambrosio is shown a yellow card for protesting too much about that penalty.
Oh, now Torino coach Ventura is sent off for protesting against the penalty decision on the touchline!
I have to admit: there was quite a confusion there about the penalty. It initially seemed that the referee had not awarded the penalty and that he changed his mind after the Roma players surrounded his assistant, but it appears that the penalty was given in the first instant. In any case, it was a penalty in my opinion.
SANTANA! Cerci floats in a cross from the right flank that Santana tries to volley first-time, but fails to connect with the ball. He was in acres of space there...
Roma continue their search for the second goal of the evening, as Pjanic shoots from distance but fails to keep his attempt on target.
SUBSTITUTION. Mario Santana comes off and on comes Simone Verdi for Torino. Verdi is on loan at the Turin club from AC Milan.
Roma attacker Erik Lamela earns himself a yellow card now.
BIANCHI! The Torino player runs down the right flank and shoots under pressure from inside the Roma area, but his shot goes narrowly wide of the mark.
Ten minutes of normal time remain in this pulsating Serie A clash. Can Roma score their second goal of the evening and wrap up the points, or will Torino score an equaliser and go home with a point?
Oh, Lamela! The ball falls to him in a good position inside the Torino penalty area, but the youngster shoots way wide.
Now Torino put the Roma backline in a problem, as Verdi drills in a very good cross looking for Bianchi.
OSVALDO! Oh, he should have shot rightaway there! Pjanic sets up the striker nicely but he holds on to the ball for too long, allowing Ogbonna to make a very good and important challenge just in front of the Torino goal.
Osvaldo now shoots at the Torino goal but his attempt is foiled by Gillet.
SUBSTITUTION. Abou Diop comes on for Alessio Cerci, as Torino make their third substitution of the game.
GOAL Miralem Pjanic scores and makes it 2-0 for Roma! His shot from outside the Torino penalty area takes a deflection off Alessandro Gazzi and goes past Gillet.
Pjanic is shown the yellow card for removing his shirt while celebrating his goal.
Now Diop is shown the yellow card for simulation inside the Roma penalty area.
Four minutes of injury time have been awarded. That second goal from Roma has virtually killed off the game as a contest.
Two minutes of injury time remain, as Roma continue to control proceedings at the Stadio Olimpico.
It is all over at the Stadio Olimpico as Roma have defeated Torino 2-0 at home in their Serie A clash tonight. After a barren first half, Pablo Osvaldo broke the deadlock with 20 minutes left on the clock from the penalty spot. Miralem Pjanic wrapped up the points with a deflected effort from outside the area in the 87th minute.
It was a very exciting and entertaining game, but largely one-sided. Roma now move up to sixth in the Serie A table with 20 points from 13 matches, while Torino remain just three points above the relegation zone.
I hope that you enjoyed our live text commentary of the match here on Sports Mole. Have a good night. It is goodbye from me for now.
