Schalke manager Jens Keller has elected to leave Julian Draxler and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on the bench for the Bundesliga clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.
Draxler picked up a knock while on international duty with Germany and is reportedly not fit enough to play from the start, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is preferred to Huntelaar in attack.
Sidney Sam and Christian Fuchs will provide support from the wings, with Kevin Prince-Boateng operating in a central role behind Choupo-Moting.
Monchengladbach boss Lucien Favre leaves Thorgan Hazard, on loan from Chelsea, on the bench, but there is a start for USA international Fabian Johnson.
Monchengladbach: Sommer; Jantschke, Stranzl, Dominguez, Wendt; Kramer, Xhaka, Hahn, Johnson; Raffael, Kruse
Schalke: Fahrmann; Ayhan, Howedes, Hoger, Neustadter; Aogo, Fuchs, Sam, Boateng, Clemens, Choupo-Moting
