Borussia Monchengladbach have recorded their first victory of the Bundesliga season with the 4-1 thrashing of Schalke 04 at Borussia-Park this evening.
The Royal Blues, who themselves came into this contest winless in the league to date, fell behind with 17 minutes on the clock when Max Kruse played in Andre Hahn, who found the back of the net.
Christoph Kramer almost doubled his side's advantage before the interval, only for his effort to be kept out by the frame of the goal.
Gladbach added a second on 50 minutes, and it was Hahn once more who found the target after heading home from a free kick into the box.
Schalke were given a lifeline just two minutes later when Maxim Choupo-Moting converted from the penalty spot, but Kruse fired home from close range to restore Die Fohlen's two-goal cushion 30 minutes from time.
Raffael added goal number four to further pile the misery on Jens Keller's Schalke, who are now 16th in the league table.
