Reigning MLS Cup holders Seattle Sounders have got their season off to a winning start by beating Sporting Kansas City late on at CenturyLink Field.
In a cagey opening 45 minutes, Sporting had arguably the finest chance through Dominic Dwyer, who forced Stefan Frei into a save after 33 minutes.
Lamar Neagle came close to getting Seattle up and running, as DeAndre Yedlin played him in down the right, before the winger fired a shot away at goal which was saved by Eric Kronberg.
Substitute Clint Dempsey added some extra attacking impetus for the hosts, and with seconds remaining Sean Oloki sent in a cross with the American attacker heading against the bar, before Chad Barrett edged it over the line.
