Sheffield Wednesday owner Milan Mandaric has defended his decision to sack Gary Megson as manager.
Dave Jones was confirmed as the new boss of the League One side on Friday.
Despite the club sitting third in the table, Megson was dismissed on Wednesday evening after a year in charge at Hillsborough.
"Let me tell you something. I didn't come here to win a popularity contest, I came here to do the job," Mandaric told reporters. "I came here to rescue the club, which was down, very down, for 15 years. I came here to turn things around and do better.
"Sometimes some of those decisions that I made, they're not quite right, they need corrections and I will correct those decisions.
"You can't tell me what is right and what is wrong. I'm the one who will pay the consequences. At the end of the day I'm carrying the can and at the end of the season I'm the one paying £5m cash to keep the club going forward."
Jones will take charge of the Owls for the first time on Saturday when they travel to Rochdale.
