Hello and welcome to
Sports Mole's live coverage of the match in the
Champions League between
Tottenham Hotspur and
Manchester City. Both clubs overcame German opposition to reach this stage of the competition, but who will establish an advantage in the first leg of this quarter-final tie? The teams are making their way out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so let's see who features in each starting lineup...
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR XI: Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Winks, Sissoko; Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR SUBSTITUTES: Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Foyth, Davies, Wanyama, Moura, Llorente
MANCHESTER CITY XI: Ederson; Walker, Otamendi, Laporte, Delph; Fernandinho, Gundogan; D.Silva; Mahrez, Aguero, Sterling
MANCHESTER CITY SUBSTITUTES: Muric, Kompany, Stones, De Bruyne, Foden, Sane, Jesus
KICKOFF: Man City get us underway!
It's been a fast start from both sides. Kane closed down a City pass which resulted in Ederson getting a touch of the ball after just six seconds, while David Silva has fired wide from inside the area before being flagged offside.
Both teams have also had some time on the ball, but a high Spurs press has just forced a mistake out of Laporte.
Mahrez is a surprise selection in City's starting lineup, but the playmaker has just earned a corner for his side courtesy of a deflection off Rose. However, Spurs have no issues with clearing the set piece.
SHOT! What a goal this would have been! Alli releases Sissoko down the left and the Frenchman opts to find his teammate with the return pass. Alli attempts to find the top corner with a volley from the edge of the area, but the ball goes marginally over the crossbar.
SHOT! City hit straight back through Sterling, who glides across the edge of the area before getting a shot away. However, the ball is deflected wide of Lloris's post.
PENALTY! Wow. City have been awarded a penalty through VAR. Sterling's shot struck the arm of Rose, but it's extremely questionable whether there was any intent. The referee viewed the footage on the edge of the pitch, and changed his original position. Rose has been booked too!
SAVE! Aguero steps up to take the spot kick and Lloris guesses correctly to his left! Spurs will feel that is justice.
Most people will be flabbergasted with that penalty decision, but the Spurs supporters are just angry. The atmosphere has gone up several levels! Spurs want a penalty for a foul on Alli, but there is nothing in it.
Spurs are doing their best to take the sting out of the game, which is understandable given that they have more to lose this evening. However, there are goals in this match. Neither team look tight at the back.
LATEST! Liverpool are currently in action against Porto, and the Merseyside outfit hold a 1-0 lead thanks to a Naby Keita goal. You can follow that game by

Neither team have threatened since the controversial penalty decision. The play is being contested in the middle of the pitch with very few risks being taken.
Spurs put together a nice move down the left with an Eriksen flick creating space inside. However, it comes to an end when Sterling gets back to dispossess Son on the edge of the area.
CHANCE! Big chance for Spurs. The referee looks ready to award the home side a free kick on the edge of the area but instead opts to to play advantage. Both teams are expecting the whistle, but Kane continues and sees a shot from 15 yards punched cleared by Ederson.
That was a lucky escape for City, and they have reverted to keeping hold of the ball in their own half. Spurs are happy to let them have possession for the time being.
YELLOW CARD! Laporte loses concentration on the left-hand side of the pitch and decides to bring down Alli. Easy decision for the referee.
LATEST! Liverpool have doubled their advantage at Anfield, with Roberto Firmino netting their second goal. Porto desperately need to net an away goal this evening.
Trippier has just required treatment for a knock, but the right-back appears fine to continue. The game is going through a bit of a lull.
Better from Spurs as Trippier sends a cross into the middle for Kane, but the ball into the box is marginally too high for the forward.
Kane has been relatively quiet, but the frontman is beginning to get more involved. Otamendi has just brought down Kane on the edge of the area. Chance here for the home side.
Eriksen has two shots blocked by the wall, and a third from Vertonghen is also prevented from going near Ederson's goal.
SHOT! Aguero is another player who has failed to have an impact in this game, and the Argentine attempts to get rid of some frustration with a speculative long-range effort which goes wide.
Kane and Fernandinho collide when challenging for a high ball, and the Brazilian definitely attempts to get a reaction out of the Spurs forward. Kane's head was pushed down on two occasions, and Fernandinho is fortunate not to be booked.
SHOT! Spurs win a free kick on the corner of the penalty area, and it suits a left footer. Rose steps up to take, but the defender's effort is tame and too close to Ederson.
The home side have upped the intensity over the past few minutes, but City are handling the pressure. The visitors will be content to see this through to half time.
There will be two minutes of added-on time.
SHOT! City counter and Mahrez wins a challenge with Eriksen for a chance to be created for Aguero. However, the forward can only shoot wide of the near post from 15 yards out.
HALF TIME: Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 Manchester City
The half-time whistle goes in North London and we remain on level terms. The main talking point is the penalty which probably shouldn't have been given, but Spurs survived after Lloris saved from Aguero. It's been an evenly-matched opening 45 minutes.

player stats.
A quick reminder of the two benches...
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR SUBSTITUTES: Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Foyth, Davies, Wanyama, Moura, Llorente
MANCHESTER CITY SUBSTITUTES: Muric, Kompany, Stones, De Bruyne, Foden, Sane, Jesus
KICKOFF: Spurs get us back underway.
CHANCE! Spurs are fortunate here. City have three on two in the final third, with Aguero wasting little time in finding Sterling on the opposite side of the penalty area. The winger takes a touch before getting a low shot away, but Lloris is able to parry the ball away.
SHOT! The home side go down the other end and Son is able to get an effort away from distance. It's a fine strike from the South Korean, but the ball goes just wide of the far post from 30 yards out.
SHOT! Son continues to be in the thick of the action since the restart, and the forward now sees a low shot from 20 yards saved by Ederson.
Ederson does well to come and claim a high ball, but the goalkeeper is going to require some treatment after colliding with a defender.
LATEST! A reminder that you can also follow the game at Anfield between Liverpool and Porto. The Premier League side currently hold a two-goal advantage.

This is a major blow for Spurs. Kane and Delph go into a 50-50 tackle, and the England skipper comes off worse. Kane appears to have suffered another ankle ligament injury, and has already gone down the tunnel.
SUBSTITUTION! Lucas Moura is being introduced as a replacement for Kane.
YELLOW CARD! Moura breaks clear from the middle of the pitch, and Mahrez decides to haul down the Brazilian.
Spurs have got themselves on the front foot over the past few minutes, and City's defence are having to remain alert. However, the home side now possess less of an aerial threat.
Back come City through Sterling, who once again cuts inside onto his right foot. However, the winger decides to try an ambitious pass over getting a shot away, and Lloris comes out to clear.
We are approaching the last quarter of the contest, and both teams need to decide whether to stick or twist. City are perhaps best placed to throw caution to the wind. Guardiola knows that an away goal changes this tie.
It surely won't be long before Guardiola makes a change, either. De Bruyne, Sane and Jesus are all warming up. Spurs are lacking in attacking options from the bench.
Sissoko wins the ball in the City half, and Alli is given the chance to run at the visitors' defence. However, the midfielder wants too much time, and his resulting shot is blocked.
SUBSTITUTION! City make their first alteration as Jesus replaces Aguero.
This match has gone slightly flat. It might be a sign of Spurs beginning to think about the second leg, but they cannot afford to simply protect this clean sheet. It will play into City's hands.
City are seeing much more of the ball. This spells danger for Spurs. It's reaching a point where Pochettino needs to consider a tactical alteration.
You get the feeling that City sense a nervousness in the Spurs backline. They are piling on the pressure, and a defender has to make a block to prevent Silva's shot from heading towards the bottom corner.
GOAL! TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 1-0 MANCHESTER CITY (SON HEUNG-MIN) GOAL! Spurs take the lead against the run of play! Son does superbly to keep the ball in play, but the South Korean does even better to get himself into a threatening position to fire a low shot under Ederson from eight yards out!
That really is a bonus goal for Spurs. They looked like they were shutting up shop, but now they have a lead to hold onto. Some changes are in the offing...
SUBSTITUTION! Pochettino reacts by introducing Wanyama for Winks.
City have gone back onto the front foot, and Spurs are having to react to the pressure. No chances so far, but it feels like they are coming.
Spurs are back to spending some valuable time on the ball. They are not committing men forward, but it is enough for City to take a step back.
SUBSTITUTION! Spurs make their third and final switch as Llorente replaces Alli, who appears to have suffered a wrist injury.
SUBSTITUTION! Guardiola finally makes his final two changes as De Bruyne and Sane replace Silva and Mahrez.
There will be six minutes of added-on time.
Spurs have had a spell of possession during the last couple of minutes, but City are starting to press. There is still one final chance in the visitors, you would think.
De Bruyne gets down the right and it is not long before the Belgian drills a cross into the middle. However, Lloris does superbly to claim the low pass.
Sane is forced back from the byline, but Trippier and Wanyama combine to commit a foul near the flank. This will be City's last opportunity...
SHOT! Lloris comes out to punch De Bruyne's free kick into the air, before Fernandinho heads harmlessly over the bar from eight yards out.
FULL TIME: Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Manchester City
The full-time whistle goes in North London and Spurs have held on to establish a 1-0 advantage over Manchester City ahead of next week's second leg at the Etihad Stadium. Son's goal has made the difference this evening, but Pochettino will be desperate for good news regarding Kane who has suffered what appears to be another ankle ligament injury.
