Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp was pleased with his side's win after their "tough" Europa League encounter with Rubin Kazan.
Roman Pavlyuchenko's free kick was enough to win it for the home side, but the visitors drew a number of saves from Spurs keeper Heurelho Gomes.
"It was always going to be a tough night," said Redknapp. "They're a good side. They went to Barcelona and won [in 2009]. They're not a bad outfit. I think six or seven of them were in that team.
"I thought it was a good performance. We had to hang on a little at the end but I was pleased with us."
The victory has moved Spurs to the top of Group A.
