Tim Sherwood: 'We haven't been good enough against top four'

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood admits that his side have not been good enough against the top four this season.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has admitted that his side have not been good enough when playing against the top sides this season.

Spurs fell to another heavy defeat at the hands of Liverpool this afternoon, losing 4-0 at Anfield to take their record against the top four to one point, two goals scored and 27 conceded in eight matches this season.

A number of Spurs supporters were heard to chant 'Where is our manager?' throughout the match as Sherwood remained in the directors box rather than on the touchline, but he insists that his position in the stands gives him a better overall view of proceedings.

"They are entitled to have an opinion. I have sat up there for the last few games and got a better view but it is a learning curve for me," Sherwood told reporters.

"I am not shirking any responsibility. At 2-0 and the game going away at 3-0 I am going to learn more from my players from sitting up there rather than getting in trouble on the touchline.

"You have seen enough of me ranting and raving but I have to analyse it. Our performances against the top four have not been good enough."

Spurs now sit eight points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, while the gap to Everton in fifth is now four points having played a game more than the Toffees.
