Stoke City have completed the signing of defender Matthew Upson on a two-year contract.
The 32-year-old was available on a free transfer after his West Ham United contract expired at the end of last season.
"This is another fantastic deal for this football club when you consider the quality and experience of the lad and the fact that he is a free transfer," Stoke manager Tony Pulis told the club's website.
"Matthew was anxious to stay in the Premier League following his departure from West Ham and he sees this move as the perfect opportunity for him to further his ambitions in the game at both club and international levels in the future."
The former Arsenal centre-back will wear the number 20 shirt at the Britannia Stadium.
