Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole has said that the club cannot afford to dwell on their FA Cup exit against Everton.
The Toffees scored twice at the Stadium of Light to knock the Black Cats out of the competition earlier this week. However, Cattermole insists that their season is still far from over.
"I don't think we showed up," he told the Sunderland Echo. "I thought all over the pitch we were second best.
"We couldn't deal with the long ball, and we just looked vulnerable all over the pitch. It was disappointing, but now we have to focus on the rest of the season. We have got six or seven big weeks now to to come back.
"The lads were hurting in the changing room afterwards, but we are going to have to come out and respond, and we will find out about their characters."
Sunderland are in eighth place in the Premier League.
