Garry Monk has claimed that Swansea City must add depth to their squad if they are to build on their most successful season in the Premier League.
Monk led the club to an eighth-placed finish in his first full campaign in charge at the Liberty Stadium, and after watching Wilfried Bony join Manchester City in the transfer window, he believes that it is important for Swansea to be active this summer.
"Next season, staying in the league will be so important with that new TV money that kicks in the following season," he told Sky Sports News. "Everyone is going to be fighting for that so I am expecting the competition to go right up.
"We will recruit like we always do and look for the right targets that are hopefully affordable and available and try and strengthen in that way.
"It is just adding quality to that and that little bit more depth which we haven't has this year. It is really to add that depth of quality because we are going to need it and that is how we will go forward."
It was reported on Tuesday that Swansea were interested in signing Luke Garbutt as the Everton defender prepares to become a free agent.
