Gonzalo Higuain scored a 90th-minute winner to hand Napoli a narrow 1-0 victory over Torino this evening, putting Rafael Benitez's side level on points with second-placed Roma in the Serie A table.
The hosts tested Pepe Reina in the Napoli goal after 19 minutes when Riccardo Meggiorini picked up the ball just outside the box before working space to shoot, but his effort was straight at the keeper.
Reina was beaten less than 10 minutes later when Cesare Bovo unleashed a powerful strike from range, only to see his fine effort come back off the post.
The hosts were left cursing their luck once again eight minutes after the restart when Meggiorini also hit the upright having been picked out with a pass into the box.
Ciro Immobile was the next to come close for the hosts when he forced a save from Reina before blazing another effort over the bar from a good position just one minute later.
Napoli almost took the lead with just five minutes remaining as Dries Mertens found space to shoot on the edge of the box, but Daniele Padelli was equal to the effort and made a smart save.
The visitors did nick all three points in the 90th minute, however, as Higuain found the back of the net from close range to give his side a valuable victory.
