The Vancouver Whitecaps hammered the Real Salt Lake 4-0 in their MLS clash at BC Place.
The Whitecaps were handed the chance to take the lead in the sixth minute when Octavio Rivero was pulled back in the area. Rivero took the spot kick himself and buried his effort into the net.
Kendall Waston created an opening for Kekuta Manneh as he cleared the ball upfield for the forward, who raced on to the ball and fired his effort just past the post.
The home side doubled their lead just before the break when Manneh crossed into the box for Pa Modou Kah, who was left with a simple finish at the back post.
In the second half, Cristian Techera added a third goal for the Whitecaps when he latched on to a cross from Jordan Harvey at the back post and steered the ball past Jeff Attinella.
Techera notched his second goal of the game to score Vancouver's fourth when he picked the ball up 25 yards from goal and drilled his strike into the top corner.
Salt Lake's evening got worse in the 88th minute when defender Abdoulie Mansally was sent off for a poor challenge on Waston as his side slumped to a crushing defeat.
