Luca Toni scored twice as Hellas Verona came from behind to beat AC Milan this evening.
Mario Balotelli had an early shot for Milan when he collected an Andrea Poli pass and decided to try his luck from outside the box. However, Verona keeper Rafael pushed it away.
Milan's goal came four minutes later as Poli scored a debut goal. The young midfielder ran on to a Balotelli through-ball, beat two defenders and slotted into the corner.
Balotelli was again in the action but his free kick went high over the crossbar.
Verona's equaliser came courtesy of veteran striker Luca Toni, who scored his 110th Serie A goal with a header.
Christian Abbiati then saved Milan with a reaction stop to deny Bosko Jankovic.
However, it was 2-1 to the home side early in the second half as Toni grabbed his second of the afternoon, again with a header.
Former Milan midfielder Massimo Donati could have added to the lead but his header went wide.
Verona kept up the pressure with Raphael Martinho forcing Abbiati to push his shot wide for a corner.
Massimiliano Allegri replaced Stephan El Shaarawy with young forward Andrea Petagna and the debutant had a good chance to make an instant impact, but failed to properly connect with a cross.
Jankovic then drove over from range after Balotelli gave away possession in his own half.
Milan's Riccardo Montolivo and Balotelli had efforts saved by Rafael, but Verona secured the win on their return to Serie A.
