Werder Bremen have beaten Hannover in the Bundesliga thanks to a late Santiago Garcia goal.
Hannover had a good chance to take the lead when a cross came in from the left, but nobody could reach it.
However, the away side did go 1-0 ahead when Clemens Fritz was penalised for a foul in the box and the referee gave a penalty. Szabolcs Huszti dusted himself down and slotted the spot kick into the bottom corner.
An eventful first half continued when Salif Sane was given a yellow card for bringing down Eljero Elia and Werder had a penalty of their own. Aaron Hunt placed the ball on the spot and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Leon Andreasen almost restored Hannover's lead, but his hooked volley went wide. Edgar Prib then followed that with a shot that went straight into the arms of Sebastian Mielitz.
Werder went ahead with a goal from Cedric Makiadi, but the lead lasted for only three minutes as Hiroki Sakai rifled in a shot from 30 yards.
Makiadi then missed an open goal for Hannover as the chances continued to flow for both teams.
Deniz Kadah was next to threaten with a downward header that went over the crossbar.
Huszti had a better opportunity after being found by Kadah, but he sliced his shot wide.
Despite their pressure, Hannover fell 3-2 behind when Hunt delivered the ball into the box and Santiago Garcia poked in from close range.
