Mehmet Ekici's first-half strike was enough for Werder Bremen to beat Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.
Nils Petersen had an early chance with his head after rising highest to meet an Aaron Hunt free kick, but could not keep his effort down.
Andre Hahn then had a half-chance from an angle, but sliced his effort wide of the goal on 11 minutes.
The opening goal came in the 22nd minute when Mehmet Ekici took on a Sebastian Prodl pass to finish low from the edge of the box.
Augsburg came forward following the goal but their finishing was wayward. Their best chance of the half fell to Sascha Molders in the box, but he could not guide his shot on target.
In the 51st minute Augsburg came very close to a leveller, with Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker powering a header goalwards but Sebastian Mielitz made a decent stop.
Despite the visitors pressing for an equaliser as the game went on the points went to Werder.
