Jake Livermore's 27th-minute strike has given Hull City a 1-0 lead over managerless West Bromwich Albion at half time.
James Chester nodded over the bar from Tom Huddlestone's 10th-minute corner as the away side threatened in the opening quarter of the match, although Allan McGregor had to dash out to smother the ball with Shane Long lurking.
Scott Sinclair came within inches of controlling Long's through-ball in the 25th minute, but the former Chelsea man couldn't quite stretch enough.
Hull broke to devastating effect in the 28th minute to take the lead. After a West Brom move had broken down, the ball was moved swiftly to Danny Graham, who teed up the onrushing Livermore to lash home from a narrow angle.
David Meyler then saw his drive deflected wide before entering the book, while James Morrison blazed his effort over the bar from the edge of the box at the other end.
