West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine has revealed that Victor Anichebe is still being plagued by a groin injury.
The 26-year-old underwent surgery on the complaint during the summer, but that has failed to fully correct the problem.
However, Anichebe started against Hull City at the weekend and despite the ongoing issue, Irvine is hopeful that the Nigerian will remain available for upcoming matches.
"I'm hoping [he will be available]. There was a bit of work that had to be done to get him onto the pitch at Hull," the Baggies boss told the Express & Star.
"It was only on Saturday morning that it was confirmed that he was going to be okay to play. It's still the groin problem that's he had. He's still battling through that at the moment."
Next up for West Brom is a home clash against Midlands rivals Aston Villa on Saturday.
