Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between relegation-threatened Yeovil Town and Bolton Wanderers at Huish Park.

Yeovil Town may still be recovering from the frenetic end to their 3-3 draw with Wigan Athletic when they host Bolton Wanderers at Huish Park on Saturday.

The Glovers looked to have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat when Ishmael Miller scored two goals in three minutes in the dying stages of the match, giving his side a 2-1 lead.

However, Wigan then scored two more of their own in quick succession to regain the advantage before a 95th-minute equaliser from Luke Ayling ensured that the spoils were shared.

Having come so close to both victory and defeat, a point will have pleased manager Gary Johnson, particularly as he won't have been expecting much against an in-form Wigan side.

However, while it will go down as a good point, it doesn't do much to alleviate their relegation worries as they remain in the bottom three, just one point off the foot of the table and two points from safety.

Their position is made even more perilous by the fact that 21st-placed Charlton Athletic, who also scored late to win on Tuesday night, have three games in hand over them in addition to their two-point advantage.

Despite an ongoing three-match winless streak, Yeovil's form has certainly improved in recent weeks with just two defeats in their last eight matches. However, victories are what they really need right now and they have also managed only two of those in the same spell.

Survival is by no means an impossible feat, however, and Yeovil's improvement on a previously dismal home record will certainly give them a basis to attempt a great escape.

The narrow 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town earlier this month was their first at home in five matches and also saw them concede just their second goal in that time. It is at the other end where the problems lie, though, as no side has scored fewer goals in front of their own fans than the Glovers this season.

It will come as welcome news that James Hayter is back available, and he is likely to return straight into the starting XI to lead the line.

Bolton, meanwhile, will be looking to return to winning ways themselves having seen a four-match unbeaten streak come to an end at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

The Trotters are not yet completely safe from the drop, but a couple of wins in their remaining 10 games should do it and they will be keen to wrap them up as soon as possible.

Dougie Freedman can be fairly confident that they will avoid any late desperation to stay in the division, though, with eight points separating them from the bottom three and four teams currently more vulnerable than them.

Certainly, if they can repeat the performances from their last two away outings, which saw them thrash Leeds United 5-1 and hold Derby County to a goalless draw, then they should secure their Championship status sooner rather than later.

However, that victory over Leeds, as comprehensive as it was, is their only success in their last seven matches on the road, which could be a minor concern for Freedman.

Long-term absentees Stuart Holden and Marc Tierney are still sidelined for the Trotters, but Mark Davies could return to the side having missed out last weekend.
