Bernhard Langer has revealed that he will compete in the Open Championship for the final time when the event is held at St Andrews Old Course later this year.
The 57-year-old, whose best Open finish was a tie for second on the course in 1995, is a regular winner on the Senior Tour, but he will be unable to gain automatic qualification to the tournament after his appearance in July.
"I always have looked forward to going back to St Andrews but then this could be my last year, and maybe my last time," the German told reporters.
"St Andrews and the Old Course has always been a very special place for me but after this year I won't be exempt anymore."
Tom Watson and Sir Nick Faldo will also play The Open for the final time in July.
