Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has insisted that he wants to "move on" from rumours that he cheated on his wife with model Celia Kay.
The Frenchman apologised to his family and teammates after a national newspaper reported that the striker had a late-night romp with Kay.
A photograph of the married star wearing just his underpants emerged in the press along with claims that he took Kay to his hotel room at the Four Seasons in Canary Wharf the night before Arsenal's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on February 2.
"There was some things which were true, some others were false, but that's the past," the Daily Mail quotes Giroud as saying. "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger. I'm convinced that everything happened to me will make me stronger.
"It's been a difficult period. You have to be strong in your head. I used football as an outlet. The contribution of the coach Arsene Wenger was very important.
"I could talk with him. Now I just want to forget about it, move on to something else and make a new start."
Giroud scored twice in the Gunners' 4-1 win over Everton in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday.
